The secret of the black effect of rubber products

Black and white are the basic colors in color, but they are also the two most difficult colors to achieve satisfactory results. Usually, black is achieved by adding carbon black or black mother, but it is often difficult to achieve the desired blackness or effect. Here are some of my personal experiences to share:

1. Mold surface treatment: This is the first step to ensure that the surface of rubber products is bright.

2. Add waxy materials: You can try to add 3 parts of low molecular weight polyethylene wax and 2 parts of microcrystalline wax, these waxy materials help to improve the gloss of the product surface.

3. Choose the right carbon black: the blackness of the product will increase with the increase of the amount of carbon black, but when the amount of carbon black reaches a certain amount, the blackness will no longer increase. In addition, the type of carbon black is also very important, different types of carbon black due to different preparation methods and particle size, its coloring power, hue and oil absorption value will also be different.

After experiments, it is found that high-pigment carbon black or special carbon black is not necessarily much superior to ordinary carbon black.

4. The use of pigments: In the past, some people thought that adding phthalein blue could improve the blackness, because it could eliminate the yellowness of carbon black. However, in the actual experiment, we found that phthalocyanine blue will reduce the saturation of carbon black, resulting in gray color.

Therefore, in the color matching process, we try to add a small amount of whitening agent, which can significantly improve the saturation and brightness of the black degree.

5. Avoid using raw materials with strong hiding power: add titanium dioxide and other raw materials with strong hiding power as little as possible in the formula. There is an effective formula: carbon black 0.8%, phthalein blue 0.04%, whitening agent 0.005%, this formula has achieved good results.
